Fruit or Fruits de Mer?
H&M Oversized Printed T-shirt in White/Papaya £12.99 NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE in the UK
Fruit Print T-shirts
H&M leads the way in retailing fruit print T-shirts on the UK high street, methinks. I first spotted a Guava T-shirt (see picture below) in a YouTube video but was disappointed to find it was only available in Asian countries like the Philippines or Singapore.
I checked the H&M website and found that there were other fruit prints available, like lemon print T-shirts and even tomato print, but they were all Mediterranean-inspired (see these in next blogpost coming out next Friday). While shopping at H&M Home store, I suggested to a wonderful staff member about the Guava T-shirt and voila…two weeks later it was instore! Then the Rio de Janeiro T-shirt followed! (Though I still cannot figure out what fruit is on the T-shirt, scroll to gallery below and tell me what you think!)
What I am trying to say is: go with the fruit print that resonates with you. If you are from the UK but want to experiment with a tropical fruit print, by all means! But it helps to have matching bottoms, maybe something already in your wardrobe (like my skirt below and lace skirt in the above picture). There are also European-inspired fruit print like strawberries, cherries and raspberries, just look around online or in your local store.
The cheeky H&M Papaya Coconut print, perhaps inspired by P1Harmony’s ‘papaya coconut’ interview, is now available online in the UK!
Other high street stores have now followed suit at varying price points: from H&M’s budget prices to middling prices at Next and River Island, to more designer-type prices at Oliver Bonas and Anthropologie. (If you live in the USA, Anthropologie products may be cheaper.) Get what suits you and your budget. Or if you have one tucked away in your closet (I have a La Pomme one from WAY BACK), it is time to dust it off and wear it BOLDLY, especially on holiday!
H&M Printed T-shirt in White/Guava £12.99. Make sure to size up! I sized up at least twice.
New Look White Oversized Lobster Print T-shirt £15.99. This is oversized, I did not size down.
Seafood Print T-shirts
Meanwhile, the sardine print was making its way into shops via the homeware sections, like H&M’s sardine napkins and tea towels. My first seafood T-shirt print discovery, however, was this New Look Santorini T-shirt, with the lovely crab and lobster in ribbons! As we had a wonderful time in Santorini, this T-shirt brought back memories. Guess what, it sold out in a day or two. It has now come back, but I found it very translucent. Maybe it is meant to show off a colorful bikini top underneath, but I would not wear a dark-coloured bra with this.
My favourite sardine print is again, from H&M. See below! I have suggested fruit print T-shirts for kids and one for men, and seafood print T-shirts for girls and boys!
H&M Motif-detail T-shirt in Cream/Sardines £12.99. I sized up by one for this fitted T-shirt.
